Annie Mae was a devoted wife to the late Wilbur “Chef” Mitcham, and together they raised 13 children, establishing a strong family foundation. She was the proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Through her love, guidance, and support, she created a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.
Her commitment to community was equally profound. Annie Mae was a respected member of the Board of the Harriet Tubman Museum, where she contributed to preserving the history of one of America’s greatest freedom fighters. Additionally, she was an active member of the Orthodox Association, where her dedication to fostering community ties and promoting cultural awareness was evident.
Annie Mae was known for her compassion, strength, and integrity, and she was well-respected and loved by all who encountered her. She was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., embodying the values of service and sisterhood. Annie Mae passed away at the age of 98 on February 10, 2025.
